This is clearly the age of accountability. New demands
are being placed almost daily on students, their schools
and the educational system as a whole. More than ever,
there are real consequences for academic performance
and overall school achievement. These resources help
to assure that schools address issues of accountability
thoroughly and effectively in planning both curriculum
and instruction.
Accountability:
Standards, Assessment and Using Data. Although designed
for Charter Schools, this excellent resource from the
US Charter Schools organization covers such vital topics
as the elements of an accountability plan, identifying
standards and goals, linking standards to curriculum
and assessment, and gathering, using and reporting data.
The Resources section contains links to helpful, online
materials for use by school leaders and faculties.
Assessment
Resources Center Hawaii. From the Hawaii Department
of Education, this site contains excellent parent,
student
and faculty surveys on school quality as well as links
to other helpful resources on the Internet.
Leadership
Training Workbook: Assessment and Accountability.
From NWREL, this 72 page workbook shows charter school
developers how to establish an accountability plan that
includes performance, rule and fiscal accountability.
The model and materials are useful for all school assessment
programs.
