Leaders to Speak at First Summer Institute.
Jerry Tirozzi and David Sousa will speak at the first
Principals' Partnership Summer Institute at Lincolnshire,
Illinois, July 15-18, 2002. Dr. Tirozzi, the Executive
Director of the National Association of Secondary Principals,
has served as a teacher, principal, superintendent,
Commissioner of Education in Connecticut, President
of Wheelock College, and Assistant Secretary of Education
in the U.S. Department of Education. A well-known advocate
for high school principals and their central role in
school reform, Jerry will speak on the challenges facing
principals at the outset of the 21st Century.
David
Sousa is an international educational consultant and
author of How the Brain Learns, and How the Special
Needs Brain Learns. He has conducted workshops on brain
research, instructional skills and science education
in hundreds of schools in the US, Canada, Europe and
Asia at the elementary, secondary and university levels.
A past president of the National Staff Development Council,
he has received recognitions and awards from professional
organizations, school districts and his undergraduate
college for his commitment to research, staff development
and science education. He will address how school leaders
and their staff can improve teaching and learning by
making their schools brain compatible.
