Making way for electronic learning. (Breaking Ranks)


The technology revolution is redefining the way that people acquire, use and share information. High schools are faced with the dual challenge of preparing students to function effectively in a technology-rich future at the same time that they struggle to integrate technology effectively into their own work. These resources will help principals lead both efforts in their schools.


Tool Kit from NSBA.
This excellent toolkit from the National School Boards Association is a collection of tips and pointers, articles, case studies and other resources for education leaders addressing issues around technology and education.


Office of Educational Technology. The official technology center of the US Department of Education is a source of information and resources on federal technology initiatives in schools.


From Now On. This educational technology journal is available online with email updates for those who just can't wait for cutting edge news. Be sure to check out their Top Ten sites for educational technologists.


North Central Regional Educational Laboratory. NCREL's mission focuses on educational technology, and it performs that mission superbly. Be sure to check out these technology resources.


George E. Lucas Educational Foundation. Here you will find how skillful educators, committed leaders and involved communities are using technology to change education for the 21st Century.


Milken Family Foundation. This rich resource provides school-based examples of how teachers are using technology to transform student learning and promote high achievement.


CEO Forum. This group is devoted to improving student learning through technology infusion. Use their STAR chart to determine how technologically savvy your school really is.


ISTE. The International Society for Technology in Education is the largest professional organization for educational technology professionals. Check out their site for technology standards and innovations.


INTEL. The microchip people also showcase how technology can be used to transform education and implement the ISTE standards.
