Principal Richard R. Pemberton is the principal of Jefferson
City (Missouri) High School
Richard
R. Pemberton has been the principal since 1987 of Jefferson
City (Missouri) High School, a comprehensive school
that enrolls 1800 students in grades 10-12.
Dr. Pemberton led the schools successful
and acclaimed transition to block scheduling in the
2000 - 2001 school year, climaxing two full years of
preparation. His staff has developed Professional Learning
Communities and collaborative teams on the modeled after
and in consultation with Richard DuFour and his associates.
The success of this approach has led, in turn, to the
schools considering the development of academies
as the next step in personalizing and maximizing learning
at JCHS.
Dr. Pemberton has addressed state, regional,
and national audiences on his schools journey
of progress, and his writings in JAY PRIDE, a
parents magazine which he started, have won widespread
recognition and applause.
